We’re starting the year off with some exciting news… Willis is now officially FSC-certified for our FENIX® and Arpa HPL materials! Now, what does that mean may you ask? We’ll break it down for you.
FSC (the Forest Stewardship Council®) develops best practice standards for responsible forest management according to its 10 principles and criteria. FSC-certified forests have to meet rigorous standards assuring they are healthy, and benefit local communities as well as provide jobs for workers. The FSC Certification tracks the wood from the forest to the shelf. So when you see the FSC label on a product, you can be sure that the paper or timber has come from responsible sources.
Simply put, the certification guarantees that the FSC-labelled material you purchase from Willis has come from a forest and supply chain that is managed responsibly!
What is FSC?
FSC stands for the Forest Stewardship Council®. They’re an independent, non-governmental organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. Since FSC’s Founding Assembly held in Toronto in 1993 and its first certificates issued, FSC has certified more than 200 million hectares of forests, in over 80 countries.
