We’re thrilled to have packed 5 buses full of professionals from the design community for an exclusive VIP bus tour, exploring three stunning show homes and engaging in professional development and connection-building opportunities.
Modernism Week Showcase Home: Seventies Sackley
Our first tour stop brought us into the 1975 residence by noted architect Stan Sackley, which was lovingly restored and reimagined by Michael Ostrow and Roger Stoker of Grace Home Furnishings.
This home showcases the architect’s signature flourishes, as well as floor-to-ceiling glass walls that line the back of the house and open out to the pool for uninterrupted views of the San Jacinto mountains. At the heart of the home sits an eye-catching kitchen that perfectly achieves a modern yet vintage look.

Modernism Week Showcase Home: Yoasis
We brought our guests to get a first-hand look at Grace Home Furnishings’ latest desert project. The owners envisioned a vacation home that’s hip and unique with a blend of Bohemian and Hollywood Regency style.
With vintage touches throughout, Willis assisted in carefully curating materials to bring together a cohesive design in multiple rooms throughout the home.

Lunch + Learn with Paula Oblen
Guests had the unique experience of sharing an up-close conversation with Hotelements, Inc. Founder Paula Oblen, alongside Willis President Dallas Gabriel.
The chat revolved around all things design and marketing for vacation properties, 2023 trends, as well as Paula’s transformational renovation and design experience with Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk for last year’s Modernism Week featured home ‘Casa Tierra.’
Modernism Week Showcase Home: Hi-Sun | Cocktail Party
Because we had to end our day with a bang, we shuttled guests to this resort-like home, nestled in the mountains, for an up-beat tour and cocktail party. Hi-Sun was originally designed by Charles Du Bois back in 1963, but has been recently remodeled by H3K Design’s Kevin Kemper and Howard Hawkes, as their personal residence.
The home’s Hawaiian flair and other original mid-century modern features (including the living room’s stone fireplace), were retained to reflect the designers’ signature style. All new surfaces and exciting refreshes enhance both the interior and exterior of the home.
