The Rise of the Countersplash: A Seamless Fusion of Countertops and Backsplashes

Design Trend Alert: The countersplash is redefining modern kitchens and baths. This growing trend is where the same material used for the kitchen or bathroom countertop is extended up the wall, creating a continuous surface that serves both as the countertop and the backsplash. The result? A seamless, cohesive look that’s not only visually striking but also functional and easy to maintain.

Surface Spotlight: Sackley Chase Sensation

One recent collaboration showcasing the counterplash in action is the Sackley Chase Sensation project in Palm Springs. Willis collaborated with the Grace Home Furnishings team to update a stunning ’70s residence. Lapitec® Bianco Vittorio was used for both the countertops and the backsplash to update this once-outdated kitchen, creating a unified and elegant look. The counterplash effect in this project ties the kitchen together with the living spaces, adding a layer of sophistication while ensuring the surface can withstand the demands of daily use.

Why the Countersplash Works

  • Aesthetics: The counterplash creates a sleek, clean look and reduces visual clutter, making rooms feel larger and more open.

  • Functionality: With no grout lines or seams to clean, surfaces become easier to maintain, making this a practical choice for kitchens and bathrooms, where hygiene and cleanliness are key.

  • Durability: Corian® and Lapitec® are engineered to resist scratches, stains, and moisture, standing up to daily wear while maintaining their refined finish over time.

  • Design Flexibility: From residential to commercial applications, it’s easy to tailor each space to your unique design vision with a wide range of materials, finishes, and colors.

  • Efficiency & Sustainability: Engineered for longevity and minimal waste, Corian® and Lapitec® deliver performance with purpose, supporting eco-conscious design and long-term value.

Mixing Materials

While not a traditional countersplash, this stunning kitchen inside The West House reimagined by Michelle Boudreau showcases a pairing of Lapitec® Bianco Crema countertops with a Corian® Solid Surface Sand Storm backsplash that achieves a similar continuous, high-end look. The mix of materials offers subtle contrast in tone and texture, while still maintaining that clean, cohesive flow often associated with true countersplash designs.
