Material Application Specialist, Sales – Northern California

This role involves nurturing existing client relationships while actively pursuing new business opportunities to expand our market presence.
Job Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to, building the sales of our portfolio of building and surfacing materials. As a Material Application Specialist, you will build/create and maintain relationships with Fabricators, Millworkers, Contractors, KB Dealers and GC’s. To grow sales, you will host product knowledge meetings, present sales growth strategies to the above clients, and undertake other overall relationship building activities. To ensure project completion you will price/track project progression through all development and construction stages utilizing Willis tracking methods including Salesforce and other internal systems. Additionally, you will maintain relationships as a team with other Specialists and collaborate with them to close commercial and residential projects.
General Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development
- Engage in the complete sales process, working towards and achieving sales targets as set by management.
- Expand sales by building strong relationships with current customers through cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to drive growth within the region.
Account and CRM Management
- Secure new business and accurately maintain customer data within the CRM: Sales Force.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries and complaints, escalating issues to the manager when necessary.
Market Research and Understanding Customer Needs
- Conduct client needs assessments to develop creative sales solutions and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Stay informed about product developments, market trends, and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications:
- Experience as a sales representative or post-secondary education in related subject preferred
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM tracking system
- Highly motivated and target driven – Goal-oriented with a strong sense of urgency to meet monthly sales targets
- Excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills
- Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
- Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs
- Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to actively listen, understand client needs and effectively communicate product value
- Valid Driver’s license
Travel:
Ability to travel daily within designated sales territory.
Candidates will use their own vehicle on the road visiting clients and be compensated monthly with a generous
automotive allowance to cover fuel and other vehicle expenses.
Overnight travel is periodically necessary to maintain some accounts, and there may be additional required dates throughout the year for company events, tradeshows, sales meetings, etc.
